The VBORNET project aims to establish a European Network of medical entomologists and public health specialists in order to support ECDC in its preparedness activities on vector-borne diseases. The members of this network are representatives of a wide range of vector–borne disease-related research and public health activities currently ongoing in Europe. Current links between experts on vectors and public health specialists are often poorly established both at national level and in European networks. An important task of VBORNET is to link these experts with the aim to define and develop priority strategic topics concerning the public health perspective of vector-borne diseases and vector surveillance in the EU. The current questionnaire is a first step towards this goal and aims to collect information on vector-borne diseases and related public health activities and expertise in the EU member states.
The survey consists of twelve questions, targeted to the public health experts responsible for national surveillance on vector-borne diseases and / or nationally acknowledged experts in special health issues on vector borne diseases.
